THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM C Q U N C | | MEMORANDUM OCT 27 1996 TO: City Administrator October 10, 1986 FROM: City Engineer : | SUBJECT: Lane Closure west of Taylor Street - Public Works Committee, October 7, 1986 Recommendation: That the lane west of Taylor Street between McLean Avenue and Tyler Avenue be stopped up and clesed to traffic by means of a barrier across the iane and that the cost be taken from funds deposited by the developer for fencing. Background and Comments: The Public Works Committee received a delegation and a petition signed by all residents adjacent to the above lane. The complaint Is that the lane Is being used as a short cut between McLean and Tyler and that the speed of the vehicites was a hazard to children who might be crossing the lane. The - residents wished to see the lane closed at McLean Avenue. ~. ere The lane is used for garbage collection for the three mid- i block homes. The pick-up location for these homes can be diverted to Taylor Street. The lane also serves as part of a ey circular access for the G.V.R.D0. Sewage Pumping Station. . , : 7 The Committee felt that It would be appropriate to close this lane as it would eliminate an uncontrolled access to McLean Avenue near a major Intersection. The best lacation for a ciosure Is as shown In the attached sketch. This closure -allows the-continued use of the clrcular driveway for the pumping station. At the time of subdivision of the tots on Taylor Street “the Engineering Department took a $500.00 deposit for future fencing of the pump station. It would appear that the best solution is to use that money to put the barricade across the lane. F.E. Nnge, City Eng Ineer FEP:j th attachment
