MEMORANDUM C 0 TO: Mayor and Aldermen June 7th, 1978 FROM: R.A. Freeman City Clerk Re: Liquor Licence — Double Bogey Lounge of PoCo Valley Golf Course Pursuant to instructions of Council, we have investigated the circumstances surrounding PoCo Valley Golf Club's recent request to change their present "B" Licence for the Double Bogey Lounge to an "A" Licence. We telephoned Mr. Hocksteader, the Liquor Board Inspector responsible for this area, and he advised that under a "B" Licence, the Double Bogey Lounge was licenced as a restaurant with a Holding Bar. No entertainment is permitted in a Holding Bar and thus the "Disco" operation at the Double Bogey Lounge was not in accord with the regulations and would have to be discontinued. An apparent difficulty arose in view of the fact that minors would accompany their parents to dinner in the Double 'Bogey Lounge and then their parents would, after dinner, proceed to the Holding Bar with their children as is permitted under a "B'' Licence and would remain for the rest of the evening. . Council should be aware that under a "A" Licence, minors will not be permitted at all in the Double Bogey Lounge - even for a meal ~ and it will be a strictly “adult only" operation from start to finish. In Mr. Hocksteader's opinion, this will be the only change in the method of operation. The regulations applicable to "A" and "B" licences are attached and in case Council is concerned, we would advise that sales for off-premises con- sumption will not be permitted. The original letter of request from PoCo Valley Golf and Country Club . is attached and Council's instructions are awaited. nen City Clerk
