Laking rel Alderman Laking stated he was advised earlier today by Inspector for M.A. Young, i/c Coquitlam R.C.M.P, Detachment, that there are an additional 36 men available to municipalities for policing purposes, and that Inspector Young had requested Port Coquitlam consider taking one additional man which would bring the number of members to 30 for a population of about 27,000. Moved by Alderman Ranger: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That the request of Inspector Young for the addition of one member to the Coquitlam R.C.M.P. Detachment for policing purposes in the City, be denied. Carried. Acting-Mayor Alderman Thompson and Alderman Laking voted against the resolution.
