Alderman Laking stated he generally agreed with the views expressed by Alderman Ranger, and commented he could not vote in favour of the resolution proposed by Alderman Traboulay until costs of restoring the building have been obtained. Alderman Keryluk stated he agrees with preserving heritage; however, the condition of the Agricultural Hall may not be as sound as those being renovated in other communities. Alderman Mabbett stated he felt that the Agricultural Hall warrants a lot of dollars being spent on it from a historical standpoint. Acting-Mayor Alderman Thompson stated he was opposed to the motion. Mr. Don Ray, President of the Association of Concerned Citizens, spoke in favour of preserving the Agricultural Hall as a heritage to the City, and stated he felt it would be an excellent building for a museum. Moved by Alderman Ranger: Seconded by Alderman Traboulay: That an engineering report be commissioned on the condition of the Agricultural Hall to determine its suitability for renovation. Carried. Aldermen Keryluk and Mabbett voted against the resolution. Prior to the question being called on the foregoing resolution, following motion was proposed: Moved by Alderman Mabbett: That the proposal to prepare an engineering report on the Agricultural Hall be referred to the Building & Protection Committee for basic terms of reference.
