As of June 1, business owners with a single line faced an increase from $36.26 to $39.86 a month. Businesses that have the multi-line service face more severe price hikes per month. Small business lines at $49.76 a month and stan- dard business lincs al $52.31 a month are now $54.71 each, Strachan said even with the price hikes Terrace businesses are paying less then Vancouverites are. This new plan will lower urban rates because of com- petition, Strachan said, and the rural price hikes are to bring costs closer to the price of providing the ser- vice. **With the rate increase it will stimulate competition in an arca,”’ Strachan said. He also added that the ullimate goal is to have competition in every arca so that residents can get the best services for the lowest prices.
