Phil and Ed _ assure Mitch that this is just the ticket for “finding himself”. Besides, it sounds kind of roman- tic —— three New Yorkers out ridin’ and ropin’ them little dog- gies. It will be a male bonding thing. But the romance bites the dust real fast after they run into Curly, the trail boss (Palance), who looks just about mean enough to spit nails and eat greenhoms for break- fast. They also discover that their action-packed vacation includes neat little extras, like “saddle sores” and stampeding herds. Then disaster strikes, the green- _horns are faced with a huge dilem- ma; they must either bring the herd in by themselves or turn back. This is a very funny movie. Valley of Fear by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Audio Cassette read by Christopher Lee Sherlock Holmes receives a ciphered message that a wealthy American may be in grave danger. Shortly after, he learns that Douglas has indeed been murdered at his manor house in Sussex. Holmes and Dr. Watson are invited by the police to help with the investigation, What they discover is a nest of red herrings. The victim was apparently shot at close range with a sawed-off shotgun of American make, his wedding band has been removed and was nowhere to be found, and the murderer was apparently able to flee the house by climbing through a small window and then wading across the moat surrounding the house. And all this occurred, from the time of the gunshot until the body was discovered, over a mat- ter of only two or three moments, Holmes immediately recognizes that somebody in the house has gone to a lot of trouble to misdirect the authorities, What he doesn’t understand is why — the dead man had a curious brand on one forearm, a triangle inside a circle, and Holmes is convinced that this has some bearing on his death. Then the mystery shifts to the coalfields of North America. It becomes curiouser and curi- ouser.
