The winners were a team of very large people from a Prince Rupert machine shop. . =POLICE A local driver was charged with failure to yield after hit- ting a female bicyclist at the intersection of Highway 16 and Tetrault St. Aug, 2. The biker was thrown over the hood of the car, suffering facial injuries. A Terrace resident suf- fered arm and shoulder in- juries that required treatment at Mills Memorial Hospital as the result of an accident at the four-way stop intersec- tion of Highways 16 and 37 in Thornhill on the afternoon of Aug. 3. The local driver’s vehicle was broadsided by another - car being driven by a resident of the lower mainland who failed to obey the stop sign. RCMP charged the offend- ing driver under the Motor Vehicle Act. A local youth driving southbound on Queensway Drive in Thornhill had to drive off the road on the evening of Aug. 3. to avoid running over a small child who darted onto the road. Around midnight Aug. 4 an unlucky Terrace driver collided with a moose on Highway 37 near the Terrace-Kitimat airport. The driver was taken to Mills . Memorial Hospital with arm - and shoulder injuries. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $1,000. RCMP believe alcohol and excessive speed were factors in a single-vehicle accident about 2 a.m. Aug. 4 on Kalum Lake Road near Lean-To Creek: The driver, a - Terrace resident, was travel- ling: northbound and appar- ently lost-control of the vehi- cle, which struck the concrete guard rails and flipped over. The driver was picked up by a passing motorist and taken to Mills Memorial Hospital with head injuries.
