‘Seneeenee : Here’s the standing in our $15,000 sustaining fund drive before May Day. Knowing that no extension of the drive is possible this year, due to the imminence of both Provincial and federal elections, _ Yeaders are digging deep to en- sure continuance of British Col- umbia’s leading labor paper. Every dollar is needed, and with only 48 hours remaining’ before the financial drive offi- cially ends, the PT is counting on supporters to make a con- certed effort to put us over the top by May Day. Fine work by supporters in many localities deserves special mention, but until we get the final returns it is impossible to give credit to all the localities and groups. There are, however, a few bouquets that can be handed out now. Victory Square, with a whop- ping target of $1,000, deserves a rousing cheer for topping that figure ten days ahead of time. This was accomplished in the face of considdrable unemploy- ment in the logging industry, and was due entirely to the big sacrifices made by many Vic- tory Square members. Some 22 of them became Press Builders. $12,000 turned in---only 48 hours to go -.As the deadline nears in the 1949 -Pacific Tribune financial drive, cheques, money orders , and cash donations are pouring into our office, evidence that Supporters inj Vancouver and throughout the province are de- termined to reach their targets The Fishermen’s Union threw a wingding of a Halibut dance for the PT which drew hun- dreds of people and netted 275.26 for the drive. Ace honors in the province at the moment belong te support- ars in Sointula, who have almost tripled their original quota. National giroups did well in the® campaign, exceeding their targets by comfortable margins. Professional supporters raised more than twice as much as last year. This brings us to the gala wind-up dances which are tak- ing place in Vancouver, New Westminster and Victoria. Here are the dates and places: Vancouver: Happyland, Fri- day, April 29. Victoria: Broad Street Audi- torium, Friday, April 29. _New Westminster: Fleetwood, Saturday, April 30.
