September 11, 1989/186 The following persons participated in the Public Hearing: Mr. John Seager, 1185 Dominion Avenue, expressed his oposition to the exclusion of the land as the plan for the area north of Dominion Avenue was not yet complete. He expressed concerns that flooding may occur because of land filling on individual properties and he suggested that the proposal be delayed for approximately one year. Mr. Frank Raynor, 3620 Devon Road, advised that he was in favour of the proposal and that the area was well suited to industrial development. He further stated that the jobs that the industries would provide were needed and that tax revenue to the City would be increased. Mr. Peter Schaumann, 559 Laurier Avenue, inquired as to the method of giving notice of the Public Hearing and Alderman Gates and the Director of Community Planning advised that this was done by way of individual letters to land owners in the area and by the required notices in the newspapers, Mr. George Treat, a land owner in the area, advised of his support for the proposal. Mrs.Beverly Hyacinthe, 1340 Dominion Avenue, advised that she was a resident in the area and she inquired concerning traffic routes to the area and the Director of Community Planning advised that it was proposed that the present Dominion Avenue access to the Lougheed Highway be closed and that a new access be opened to the Lougheed Highway approximately half way between Coast Meridian Road and Irenton Street. Mrs, Hyacinthe advised of her opposition to the proposal. Mrs. Corey Van Schagen, 750 Dominion Avenue, advised that she took exception to the remarks of the previous speaker as the previous Speaker already operated a business in the agricultural area, Mr. Jack Giesbrecht, 2950 Oxford Street, advised that his late father-in-law had been a long time property owner in the area and had always expected that some day it would be designated Industrial. BYLAWS 3 Alderman Gates introduced a Bylaw to amend the “Port Coquitlam Zoning Bylaw, 1987, No. 2240". Moved by Alderman Gates: Seconded by Alderman Keryluk: That Bylaw No. 2454 be read a first time.
