Dear Mayor Traboulay & Members of Council: The union movement in Canada has set aside April 28th as "A Day of Mourning" in recognition of the workers killed, injured and dis- abled in the workplace each year. The New Westminster and District Labour Council represents more than 34,000 affiliated members from Burnaby to Hope, and on behalf of those members and their families in your community, we strongly urge your Council to join with us in observing April 28th as an official "Day of Mourning”. We would ask that you lower the flag on your building to half mast and allow your employees to observe one minutes silence at the work- place at 11:00 a.m. on April 28th. We also ask that a minutes silence be observed in the Council Chambers at your regular evening meeting as close to this date as possible. We enclose the Proclamation recently given by the provincial govern- ment which should assist you in making your decision. We look forward to a favourable response. Si yours, ockés e Lé¢lair, esident.
