THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MEMORANDUM TO: B. Kirk May 22, 1986 City Administrator FROM: F.E. Peters, P. Eng., City Engineer SUBJECT: Extension of Railing through the Underpass. Recommendation: That the hand railing along the sidewalk et the north end of Shaughnessy Street Underpass be extended to [ts former location with the costs to be borne by the Public Works Unallocated Fund. Background and Comments: The Merchants Association has drawn to the attention of the Public Works Committee the fact that a portion of the hand ralling along the Underpass sidewalk was removed some years ago due to a traffic accident. it has never been replaced as It was considered to be unnecessary. In reviewing this request tha Committee considered the fact that any Ifabllity suit resulting from a pedestrian accident at this location would no doubt mention the fact that a hand railing had at one time existed and had not been replaced. The Committee therefore felt that It was desirable to replace it. F.E. Peters City Engineer FEP/kIn ati
