_ THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM C ¢ [] N C [ MEMORANDUM . JUN 9 1980 TO: Mayor and Council | June 5th, 1980 FROM: Public Works Committee Report from the Public Works Committee Meeting held Tuesday, June 3rd, 1980. IN ATTENDANCE: Alderman E.W. Mabbett Alderman L.M. Traboulay F.E. Peters, P. Eng., City Engineer Wilf Renner for Item I ' ITEM I Re: Marpole Street Servicing Requirements ‘Mr. Wilf Renner was in representing the current owner of the building being constructed at 2331 Marpole Street. Mr. Renner pointed out that the actual off-site servicing costs came to $45,239.00 compared to the City's estimated cost of $32,000.00. Because of this large increase in costs, he requested that the City delete the requirement for the storm sewer from his property to the river. The Committee discussed this request and pointed out that the estimate was actually done in 1977 and the letter of tentative approval written in January 1978. The owner is not being asked to do any more than what was originally required but costs have escalated because it is now three years later. The City has an agreement signed by the developer agreeing to . do all the works as originally requested and this agreement is “not influenced by the actual costs of the work. It was also pointed out that the City itself lost some money since it took only $6 ,00C.00 for the developer's 50 percent share of the water- main extension and that this was also based on the 1977 estimate. “The Committee recommends that no reduction be made in the off-site servicing requirements for 2331 Marpole Street. ITEM II Re: .Garbage Collection Agreement In 1979 the City implemented a modified task system for garbage collection which involved a reduction of the crew ‘size from three men to two and an incentive of allowing the men.to leave work when the job was finished for the day. Although not part of this agreement, the City at the same time also authorized closing the Welcher Dump and eliminating cleanup weeks. [2eeae
