THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM REPORT. TO: | Mayor and Council May 2nd, 1975 FROM: Building & Protection Committee Report from the Building & Protection Committee Meeting held Wednesday, Avril 30th, 1975 at 4:00 p.m. In Attendance: Alderman L.M. Traboulay, Chairman W.S. Wingrove, Fire Chief V.G. Borch, P. Eng., City Engineer. Respectfully submitted. Re: North Side Firehall Preliminary sketches and estimates have been received for the above approved project. At the direction of Council and of Mayor Campbell] an investigation was carried out of the implications of providing for a second floor which could be used for a variety of public purposes. It was assumed that a second floor plan would include a 2,300 square foot hall (seating 200), a kitchen, storage room, washrooms, and. lobby. It is estimated that the cost of a fully completed 2 storey building would be $265,000.0C. and it is estimated that a 2 storey building with the second floor roughed in (no stairs) would cost $185,000.00. The estimated cost of a one storey 4,100 square foot building (masonry construction) is $155,000.00. A_prefabricated_metal_building (similar to the works yard building) would cost less than $155,000.00 while a prefab~ ricated precast concrete building would cost more than $155,000.00. The Committee recommends that plans be prepared and tenders called for a one storey prefabricated metal building and that provision be made for archi-~ tectural treatment of the front of the building (cedar siding or decorative brick).
