That’s half a cen- tury of BC potters sharing firing and glazing tips, workshops by potters from all corners of the globe, including two generations of Leaches, craft sales, galleries, hundreds of newsletters and an unimag- inable number of pots, from the sublime to the clunky (well, clunky on my part, at least). There will be many events and exhibits to celebrate this anniversary, including BC in a Box. Modeled on the Orton Cone Box show (where everything has to fic into an Orton Cone box), this show will travel to at least half a dozen locations around the province during 2005/2006. Create a miniature masterpiece and send it to the BC Potters Guild by February 15th. The exhi- bition is non-juried, but there will be a jurors prize selection of fifteen pieces that demonstrate excellence in technique, concept and execution. Entry fee is $20, cheques can be made out to the Potters Guild of BC. Thrown, hand-built, fired in anything and everything - all are encouraged. The ONLY limitation is that your piece (or pieces) must be a maximum size of 4.5” by 4.5” by 4.5”. This is so that it will fit inside the hand-made box that will act as both its shipping container and exhibition plinth. Along with your piece you must include your name, contact information, cheque, title, tech- niques and 75-150 words on yourself, or your approach to clay. Contact Karen Opas at karen opas@hotmail.com or 604-874-7116 for more information or if you are interested in having this exhibition travel to your community.
