AB - The Terrace Standard, Wednesday, January 29, 2003 Police seize cocaine, gi cash and pot from house POLICE officers swooped down on a Thornhill home Jan. 21 in an early morning drug raid resulting in one arrest and the seizure of money and drugs. The bust happened at a home on River Drive at 7 a.m. and the home’s occu- pant, David Harry Edward- sen, 40, was taken into custody, said police. “Police entered and one person was arrested for possession of a narcotic for the purpose of trafficking,” says Terrace RCMP Sel. Jas Basi. Police seized what Basi calls a large sum of money and cocaine hidden inside the home. He would nol say how much cash was seized but did say several ounces of cocaine were found on the premises. Police also seized an undisclosed amount of marijuana. “Police also uncovered several prohibited and re- stricted firearms,” Set. Basi says. Later the same day at 8 p.m. police executed a second search warrant at the property allowing them to search. a garage adja- cent to the home, Sgl. Basi says. Several police officers spent nearly 15 hours searching the property throughout the day and that night. ZIMMERMAN A TERRACE man faces numerous criminal charges after a horseshoe-area home invasion in which the occupants were alleg- edly robbed at gunpoint. Allan Walter: Kohnke, 21, appeared in a Terrace courtroom this morning fa- cing four firearms related charges in connection with the incident. The Jan. 20 home inva- sion happened at 9 a.m. on the 4700 block of Olson Ave. when police say a man simply walked into the victims’ home bran- dishing a sawed-off shot- gun. “He just kind of opened the door and walked in,” says RCMP Sgt. Jas Basi of a man. “We don’t know if the gun was loaded at that time.” The young man who. was arrested is-kKnown to-™. the victims but police will nol divulge the relation- ship between them. Police say a man alleg- edly pointed a sawed-off shotgun at the residents demanding money. Police say the residents turned over a small, undis- closed amount of cash after which a man made off in a Kalum Kabs taxi. Police believe the man also arrived at the home in a cab and had the gun hid- den from the driver. “It was a sawed-off shotgun concealed in his pants so it was very hard to observe or see,” Basi says. , Two adults and three children under the age of 16 were at home at the time, police say. Police say they don’t know yet if the gun was registered or if Kohnke will face charges under the new firearms legislation. Kohnke has been charged with one count of using a firearm to commit robbery, one count of knowingly uttering a threat to cause death or bodily harm, one count of posses- sion a prohibited weapon while not having a licence and a count of pointing a firearm, loaded or not. Kohnke was also charged with possession of a controlled substance. Sergeant Basi says the incident is not cause for alarm for other residents in the Terrace area. “| believe this was a unique situation. This was an isolated case where the victim knows the suspect,” Basi says. “I don’t think the cili- zens of Terrace should be concerned that these are going to be regular events.” ‘WEE BUTORS READ THE LEGAL COPY: Pre yee ceymer diferal on rag ane stock IG eases to eet oie oF RT Oe Ne ae pereat wold Theda arnt Tite conrad pusnece pent B irae oer Tu AR ere me cna Y. agened ed (hs aoahes kW etic Seba (0 oF Det Mea 38 2003 Tree fis ray ut tens G4 ar 5 es Se ea at carves TO ed eb te seca Ear Ford Cre Oude et OF aren park MR, TATE Comated wt ry Det Pay Lec d nem te 20 ACS Weta SOT ae ag re age pet Wo) Jas ae nen be ceranng tem vo Uees aie ThE, gate aves SU down py rerd soured SOsecURn Sepa reparee Fx ments pape waved Maxis Sturt ease er LONG oe eB Regt $1 OS ad kee Keene mearce airneaon SPDT eres Caras bt geliag bee Pub be SP tat hese on Mere cs’s Pic With Ed ease Ceoerstes ZORP WNC erm carye mane mol patie on eer cor oth eley dale oD tafore Wa 31, 2000 Dai rey set or lease bs less Lene’ bre eet Po eet BRIS Toa ak neampammenne ges fe | N ¢ UNTIL ON MOST NEW IN-STOCK 2003 FORD YERICLES WE'RE CELEBRATING ANOTHER YEAR AS CANADA'S #1 AND 100 YEARS OF INNOVATION. *fased on Ford btanded vehicle registrations from Janus.ry 1992 to December 2002. = Shard Motor Company, : aes 100 TEAAE 004 SELLING BRAND’ 0 36 Month PURCHASE FINANCING OW MOST MEW IN-STOCK 2003 FORD VEHICLES PAY NOTHING FOR.
