Terrace’s own Timbermen oldtimers took first place in the Schenley Division two weeks ago at

the Canadian Oldtimers’ Hockey Association world cup competition in San Diego. They did it
with five straight wins. |

Golden Gloves to salvage their trip to Quebec next month

to Golden Gloves win

Terrace boxers Joey Losier and Darren Bell came home
with gold medals on March 24 weekend from Vancouver's
Golden Gloves bouts, and they had to fight older and more
experienced fighters to earn their victories.

Thirteen-year-old Joey had no opponents in his class, so
he moved up a notch and won his 110-Ib. fight on a 5-0
unanimous decision against a 15-year-old.

Like Joey, Darren also had to move up and faced only
one opponent. The 14-year-old scored a 4-1 decision in
claiming his gold against a 16-year-old. ;

The reason both fighters lacked opponents was that

The only other Northwest boxer achieving success at the
Golden Gloves was 156-Ib. Steve Yager in the senior divi-
sion. He counted a 5-0 unanimous decision.

All eight Terrace boxing club members attended the
Buckskin Gloves card at Kamloops this past weekend.
