May 3rd, 1976 Pricer to passage of the foregoing resolution, Alderman Laking spoke in opposition to the City purchasing land it does not need, and he stated his view that as there is no access to it, the land is not valuable. From the City Administrator, April 30th, 1976, recalling the fact City Adm.re lease of that a proposed Lease document was presented toe Council about a year ago Court area at Justice Bldg.: covering the lease of the Court erea of the Justice Building to the to Prov.Govt.! Provincial Government and advising that although the Council approved | the draft lease, it was never executed as the District of Coquitlam wanted to pursue the question of a grant in lieu of taxes on the Government portion of the building. The City Administrator, in his report, advised that following further negotiations with the Province certain changes were made to the lease document and an agreement by the Province to pay the District approximately $1,506.00 a year as a grant in lieu of taxes on the building; additionally, notwithstanding the fact that a lease document has not been signed, the City has been receiving a share cf the rental and for 1976 this will be approximately $15,000.00.
