Pricer to passage of the foregoing resolution, Alderman Laking spoke
in opposition to the City purchasing land it does not need, and he
stated his view that as there is no access to it, the land is not valuable.

Justice Bldg.:
covering the lease of the Court erea of the Justice Building to the to Prov.Govt.!
Provincial Government and advising that although the Council approved |
the draft lease, it was never executed as the District of Coquitlam
wanted to pursue the question of a grant in lieu of taxes on the Government
portion of the building. The City Administrator, in his report, advised
that following further negotiations with the Province certain changes
were made to the lease document and an agreement by the Province to pay the

District approximately $1,506.00 a year as a grant in lieu of taxes on

the building; additionally, notwithstanding the fact that a lease document

has not been signed, the City has been receiving a share cf the rental
and for 1976 this will be approximately $15,000.00.

30th, 1976, the lease document covering lease of the Court area of the
Justice Building to the Provincial Government be approved as presented;
AND THAT Hi: Worship the Mayor and Cit, Clerk be authorized to sign

the said document on behalf of the City and affix the Corporate Seal

thereto. Carried.

That as recommended by the Finance Committee and set forth ina
report from the City Administrator, April 30th, 1976, the entering into
of the lease document covering space for library purposes in the new
building of Horner Developments Ltd. located at Shaughnessy Street and
Whyte Avenue, be approved;

AND THAT the said document be referred to the City Solicitor for

approval and return to Co. il for formal passage along with a covering
