Dear Mr. Pollock:

Thank you for your letter of June 30, 1975 regarding the Reeve Street
and Newberry Street Elementary School sites.

As you suggested, we will consult with your Planning Office regarding a
suitable location of the Newberry Street site. The map which you
provided showing the dedicated Neture Area will be of great assistance
when discussing Locations in that area of the City.

In regard to the Reeve Street Site, it should be noted that the authority
in the Capital Expense Proposal. approved by the Department of Education

is for the purchase of a site in the Port Coquitlam City centre area.

Also, Section 171 of the Public Schools Act determines that the Board

doe; not have authority to construct a school on property which it does not
owne Since the Board has authority only to purchase the site and must have
title to a site before building a school, it is not possible for the Board
to utxiize the site on a lease basis.
