— COUNCIL REPORT AUG 12 19f4, TO2 Mayor and G©uncil DATE: August 2, 1974 FROM: Land Sale Committee The Land Sale Committee met on Tuesday, July 30, 1974 in the Council Chambers of the City Hall. The following items were discussed: 1. G.V.R.D. Land Sale Representatives of the Greater Vancouver Regional District Housing Department discussed the land sale and exchange required for their housing development on Coast Meridian Road. There is a disagreement between the City and the Housing Department on the valuation of the land. The G.V.R.D. representatives will be in touch with our Appraiser to discuss land values in the area and the Committee will meet further on this matter. 2. Sale of City Land at Chester Street The Committee received a request to consider selling land located on Chester Street per the attached map to enable replotting of an area to obtain better land use. You will see by the attached plan that the applicant owns several 33 foot lots fronting on Perth Street and the opening of Perth would create a double frontage situation where existing lots fronting on Glasgow Street would also back onto Perth Street. The City has dealt with these particular parcels of land in the past in an effort to try and encourage a development that would eliminate Perth Street and create a new road pattern. A preplanning layout for the area is also attached. The applicant is prepared to proceed with such a subdivision provided that the City is willing to sell the land to make the subdivision possible. The Committee has reviewed an appraisal of the property and has determined that the price of the City owned land plus a portion of Perth Street required for the devel- opment has a net value of $70,000. The servicing costs for this subdivision are slightly higher than normal due to the fact that there is an existing sewer line on Perth Street that would have to be relocated. The Committee recommends that the City owned land on Chester Street be offered for sale and the portion of Perth Street necessary for the development be abandoned and also offered for sale provided that it can be incorporated in with Lots 4 to 10 of Block 1, Plan 2364 for development purposes. 3. The Committee received a request from the owner of land at 3321 Chester Street to acquire land from the City to enlarge his existing parcel. A map is attached showing the location of the lot and the dotted line indicates the portion of land that the applicant would like to obtain from the City. The Committee is not prepared to recommend subdivision of this City owned parcel oe e/2
