PAGE 68, THE HERALD, Wetinesday, November 24, 1976 Letter from Masset, Queen Charlottes « By Elvira Bryant When a brief item was published in last week's server column here about Part I of “World Without Cancer: The story of vitamin B17" by G. Edward Griffin, I was asked about the book by a local library worker. I promised to lend her the first book and was prompted to begin the second one this weekend. It was so fascinating that I had to keep reading it — something that I haven't done for a long while. Now I feel I should say something about It to others who may not have access to the in- formation it contains. In my last letter 1 men- tioned Laetrile is available. in its natural form in the seedsof many fruits, as well as in many grasses. I did not mention the writing of the books had been inspired by: two questions the author had asked Dr. John Richardson, “Why are Whey, John? Why would anyone want to hold back a cure for cancer?" Book I gives an ex- planation of the trophoblasic thesis of cancer. It also gives suggested diets for people who do have cancer, and for these who do not. In Book II the theme is “The politics of cancer therapy”. This book covers what to me is the cancer of today’s society — about cartels, monopoly, the AMA, the FOA ete. It tells why doctors are instructed to use drugs and are given little in- formation concerning nutrition. The plan to take over the use of Laetrile later under a different name or twist is also mentioned, “If an inexpensive control for cancer were made available the government would not be able to control an organized health scheme.” aetrile advocates “humbly admit the need for continued research”, and would prefer their patients obtain B17 in its natural state in foods. But when a patient needs massive doses quickly, the highly con- eentrated form works. “Just as we are amused today at the primitive medical practices of history, future generations surely will lock back at our own era and cringe at the senseless cutting, burning and poisoning that now passes for medical scien- ‘ce." I am trying to give ‘readers highlights from “work that took . Edward Griffin two and a half years to compile, but perhaps others will be inspired to read both books and to help advance the’ ‘invincible force of public opinion. Even dictatorships tremble at its spectre, for once aroused and rallied behind valliant leadership, there is no political or military power on earth that can mateh it.’ Last night we had quite a violent storm — even [ woke up when a ladder that had been put up beside the house blew aver. The wind con- tinued until late this af- ternoon, One of the crab boats, the “Ocean Aggressor’, was held up in the harbor by the storm before taking off for Van- couver or Seattle with its last load of crabs for the season. The Woode family now has some crabs in the deep freeze as Vic and Ed braved the elements to buy some. The price had gone up today to $2 a crab, something that often hap- pens when there is a shor- tage of a product. We received word from grandson Randy Laverty this week. He had gone to Edmonton, where he was able to obtain work on the second day of his stay there. When he wrote he was sleeping at night in his car, but he thought he might have found a place to stay, so we are hoping that he now has better sleeping quar- ters. Apparently Alberta is a busy bustling place these days and all because of oil. Another incentive might Focus on the family by Flora Stokes There’s nothing wrong with the younger generation that the older generation didn’t outgrow!! “if only “we lived in . Vancouver, I’d be happy.” ‘Wf only I didn’t have a family to support I could look for a more rewarding “if only Dad would buy me those new skiis, I'd nappy , “If only the kids were school age, I'd be able to work.” “I€ only ‘you earned another $50 a month we could live decently.” We've all heard and at some time used the “if only” ‘formula, “If only” assumes that someone else is responsible for our hap- piness. The truth is that enough money, social status, a loving spouse and family won't guarantee happiness. Happiness can't be bought — it’s the result of an inner contentment. It's a. state of mind. Each of us is responsible for his own happiness. POSITION: EMPLOYER: LOCATION: SALARY RANGE: CLOSING DATE: STARTING DATE: DUTIES: services: 1 4. 3. 6 Society. Our words are not nearly so important to our children as our lives. Our society is bent on ignoring death. And yet eath is an inevitable part of life. One sure thing is that we will all die. But it’s “morbid” to talk about it!!! Well, I for one don't think it’s morbid. Within the framework of the family where our iives are so in- terwoven, I feel that it’s irresponsible not to talk about death and to make plans for the ongoing life of the surviving family i & EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY x x Legal Counselior Upper Skeena Counselling and Legal Assistance Society Hazelton, British Columbia Negotiable - Depending on experience November 26, 1976 December 17, 1976 Under the general direction of the, Board of Directors of the Upper Skeena Counselling and Legal Assistance Society and subject to the policies and regulations of the Society. Partners should encourage each other to be able to function in- dependently of the other. How sad to see a widower who simply can’t look after his domestic needs and a widow who knows nothing of money management!! Partners need to talk about life insurance, wills, family property and the possibility of taking out mortgage insurance which will pay off any mortgage balance in the case of death. Discussion of funeral plans can minimize the problems and decisions which face a bereaved person. If we accept death as a reality rather than as an enemy, we can be freed to get on with living. He had spent ten days in the Laurentians about 50 to 60 miles north cf Montreal. During a quick tour of Montreal he had visited the Olympie Site, Notre Dame Church and older portions of the city. He found it a very charming place and would like to spend more time there. Apparently all the ingredients necessary for a Mexican feast were to be found in the city also, so once again Mario had been cooking. Now he has ap rently started on the last ap of his journey to Nova Scotia, so we should hear from that province later. The past week has been a busy one with report cards to be written on.
