He worked in the woods as a faller, and was active as a Com- mittee Chairman in Local 1-71. He moved to Local 1-85 IWA, Port Alberni, in foe There he was active on a number of commit- ees, and in 1958 Stan was elected 1st Vice-President of Local 1-85, retaining at position until 1964. e was elected 2nd Vice-President of his Local Union and appointed a full-time Business Agent. He still holds both these posts. He was Secretary of the Coast Fallers’ Committee which last year drafted a uniform pricing and scaling procedure for fallers which won instant approval and was submitted in this year's negotiations. For President JACK MacKENZIE Jack MacKenzie joined the IWA early in 1946 on his return from overseas. In 1948 he was elected Trustee of Local 1-118 IWA, Victoria, au in 1949 he was elected Local Re- cording Secre He was ge President of his Local in 1950 and retained that position until 1961 when he was ap- pointed Regional Third Vice-President and served for a number of years on the Regional Negotiating Com- mittee as well as on the Southern Interior Negotiating Committee. He was elected Regional First Vice-President in 1962 and was named one of the Union Trustees on the Southern Interior Health and Welfare Plan. He is a past Provincial President of the NDP of British Columbia. He is also Chairman of the Regional and B.C. Federation of Labour Political Education Committee as well as First Vice-President of the B.C. Federation of Labour, a position which he has held since 1968. For 3rd Vice-President GEORGE KOWBEL Served five years with the RCAF in Canada and overseas. Joined the Amalgamated Transit Workers in Winnipeg in late 1945. Became an active member of the B.C. Woodworkers Local No. 1 in 1947. Joined the IWA in 1951 and has served as Shop Steward, Committeeman, Plant Chairman and a Local Vice- President. Presently serving as Recording Secretary and Business Agent for the IWA Local 1-217 Van- couver. George has been a continuous local delegate to the Vancouver and District Labour Council since 1953 utilizing his skill and experience on several Commit- tees and in 1966, for a period of lo as the Acting Secretary Treasurer of this Labour E Politically an ‘ardent supporter of the NDP. He has served as a highly successful campaign manager both in the Federal and Provincial field, including that of the Honourable T. C. Douglas in the 1964 Burnaby- Coquitlam Federal election.
