LOGKED LOCAL UNION 28 a Members of Local 213 of the Teamsters remained locked out this week at three Lower Mainland Lafarge cement plants as they continued their stand against the company’s demand for contract concessions, including a 40-cent an hour wage cut. Last week, unionists voted 70 per cent to reject Lafarge’s final offer, including the wage cuts, ina vote forced on them by the Industrial Relations Council under provisions of Bill 19. Local 213 president Don McGill noted that the legislation gave the advantage to the employers who had sought to use it ‘‘to blackmail our members. But in the final analysis when the membership had their say, they rejected it,’’ he said. The union has been out at the three operations since March 11.
