Kirk DATE: August 5, 1992 City Administrator Andrew deBoer Project Engineer Water Conservation Measure (Environmental Protection Committee Meeting of July 29, 1992) PURPOSE: The purpose of this report is to update Municipal Council on water conservation measures. BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS : Due to the watering restrictions imposed by the Greater Vancouver Regional District, the Environmental Protection Committee has requested that Council and the residents of Port Coquitlam be provided with the following helpful hints for conserving water: 1. Turn the water off when brushing your teeth instead of running it continuously. Use water from a mug for rinsing. Place a water filled jar or plastic container in your toilet tank, or adjust the float downwards. You will use less water on every flush. Use energy efficient shower-heads or take “sailor's showers" by turning off the water while you are soaping and shampooing and then rinsing off quickly. Avoid overcutting your grass. Grass should be kept around 6.5 centimetres (2 1/2 inches) high. Taller grasa holds water batter. J/ Up box- Andrew deBoer Project Engineer
