MEMORANDUM Lanson Lee March 15th, 1977 Planning Officer . R.A. Freeman . cc: V.G. Borch, P.Eng. City Clerk City Engineer Re: Zoning By-law No. 1498 Attached is a photocopy of a letter dated March 8th, 1977 from the Department of Municipal Affairs along with the comments from the Provincial Water Resources Service referred to in that letter. We are given to understand, informally, from the Department of Municipal Affairs, that they will be prepared to advance By-law No. 1498 for approval provided the Council gives its undertaking to include the Flood Plain restrictions suggested in an early Zoning Amendment By-law. If the Council can agree to this it will permit By-law No. 1498 to be approved and then amended later to include the restrictions suggested. Incidentally, we did learn from the Department of Municipal Affairs that inclusion of this "Flood Plain" clause in our By-law will speed up the approval process as their procedure does not require By-laws that have a Flood Plain clause included to be referred to Water Resources, but are simply advanced to the Minister automatically for approval.
