NEW HAZELTON; B, C., WEDNESD A3, JULY 10, 1935 ey oe The Ploughing Match Won by Vanderhoof Men ‘The fourth annual ploughing match held at Vanderhoof on July 4 was one of the inportant agricultural events of the year in the Central Interior of the province. Entries in the competition were more numerous than on former oecusions, and the work vastly super- ior of that of the. past. For three yours the Indians from Stoney Creek captured the major honors but were defented this year by the white set tiers. TL G. Stewart. Dominion Live- stuck promoter for B.C., and veteran lowman and ‘ploughing mateh judge, placed the awards. In doing so he complimented the district on ‘the im- proved workmanship, stating that it was quite the equal of matches held in other parts of the province, Dean F. M. Clement and J, B. Munro were both in attendance and delivered short addresses. Dean Clement was delighted with the workmanship and suid that this match demonstrated the Art of ploughing. Ie was particular- ly pleased toe see so many of the boys competing. He said that there were approximately 40,000 young people in @rnauda teaching the age of 21 each eee year, It was getting increasingly dif- ficult to find. lucrative positions ‘for them, and the more that could main- tain interest In farming the easier it woulf be to find positions for the others, and the better it would -be for those on the farm.
