But when they demand the right to decide to limit how much we can earn without doing anything about controlling prices, that’s going too far, Because wage controls affect only wage earners. People whose only hope to keep up with the steeply rising cost of living is a salary increase. And a government that demands control over wages should also require control over prices, profits, rents and interest . . . all the things that wages have to be spent on. Sometimes it seems as if “everyone” is on strike. That labour problems will never be solved. That everyone is unhappy. And that’s bad. There are solu- tions to B.C. labour problems, and it is up to the government to find them. Dave Barrett and the NDP are willing and able to help find proper solutions to these problems.
