SUBJECT: AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY WORK - PROPOSED PORT COQUITLAM BASE
MAPPING SYSTEM - 1993 CAPITAL BUDGET

RECOMMENDATION:

That Council award the air photography work for the City of Port Coquitlam base mapping
system to Eagle Mapping Service as described in the attached memorandum from the City
surveyor dated October 25, 1993.

BACKGROUND & COMMENTS:

Council allocated $50,000 for the City of Port Coquitlam G.LS. Base Mapping Program as
shown in the attached 1993 Capital Budget List.

After reviewing numerous options for developing the City computer base mapping system it has
been determined that the most economical method would be to utilize aerial photography at a
cost of $15,000 as well as surveying and computer drafting by City forces. As Eagle Mapping
Services is located in Port Coquitlam and is availiable for on-going air photography consulting
work over the next few years to complete the City base mapping system, it is recommended that
Council award the air photography work for this project to Eagle Mapping Service.

Treasurer’s Comments:

There are sufficient funds in the 1993 Public Works Capital Budget for this purpose, however, I
recommend that the project be tendered as is our usual practice.
