Moved by Alderman Gates: Seconded by Alderman Gordon: That a grant application be made to the Provincial Ministry of Environment for one third funding for the purchase of 1,500 home composters. That subject to approval of the Provincial Grant, a tender be sent out to composter manufacturers and the appropriate composters be selected based on price and specifications. That local merchants be approached to distribute the composters through their outlets. That $53,500 be allocated from the 1992 Environmental Protection Budget. Carried. Moved by Alderman Thompson: Seconded by Alderman Gordon That Council authorize the expenses of two Aldermen and one staff member to attend a field trip to Victoria area composting facilities.
