September 13ch, 1976 A regular meeting of the Municipal Council of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam was held in the Council Chamber, Port Coquitlam City Hall, 2272 McAllister Avenue, Port Coquitiam, B.C., on September 13th, 1976 at 7:30 p.m. His Worship Mayor J.M. Campbell, Aldermen J.J. Keryluk, G.R. Laking, E.W. Mabbett, P.F. Ranger, M.A. Thompson, and L.M. Traboulay in attendance. Also in attendance were Chief Administrative Officer L.D. Pollock, City Clerk R.A. Freeman, City Engineer V.G. Borch, P. Eng., Recreation Director Janna Taylor, Fire Chief W.S. Wingrove, and Works & Utilities Superintendent G. Ulmer. CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES: Moved by Alderman Thompson: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That the minutes of the regular meeting of this Council held on August 30th, 1976, be taken as read and adopted. Carried. DELEGATIONS : The City Clerk advised that representatives of Pacific Petroleums Ltd. were in attendance this evening to discuss with Council their application for a business licence for a self-service gas station at 1523 Prairie Avenue pursuant to a resolution passed by the Council at its August 30th, 1976 meeting that a Hearing be held on the said application at this time. Mr. D.J. Tinney, Development Representative for Pacific Petroleums Ltd., then spoke on behalf of that firm and advised that the application is to continue to provide the motoring public with full automotive repair, etc., through the existing service bays while replacing the gasoline dispensing facilities with self-serve pumps to better meet the growing demand therefore. Alderman Keryluk requested some assurance that the existing repair service would not be removed in the immediate future, and Mr. Tianey advised that while this would centinue for the present, he could not foresee what changes may occur in 5 or 10 years. Alderman Ranger inquired as to the hours of operation for the service bays and the self-serve pumps, and Mr. Tinney advised that it is intended to maintain the present operating hours for the service bays, but the self-serve pumps would operate one hour longer. Alderman Mabbett stated he had not noted any reduced cost to the consumer in utilizing self- serve pumps, and that he was totally opposed to this type of facility.
