Mr. Colton advised that there are approximately 250 members, and commented that in the two years the club has been operating, it has received no support from the City in terms of financing or accommodation. Mr. Colton advised that the group received an interim grant in the amount of $600.00 from the U.C.N. and stated he is hopeful of getting more from them this year as well as from the City. Moved by Alderman Traboulav: Seconded by Alderman Laking: That the request of the PoCoMc Boys and Girls Club for time and space in the new recreation complex presently under construction on the North Side of the City be referred to the Leisure Activities Committee for consideration and report back to Council. Prior to the question being called on the foregoing proposed resolution, Alderman Ranger also spoke in support of the Club's request, and advised that the organization was sponsored by community and youth-oriented leadership across Canada. Alderman Ranger advised that the local Club is presently using the gymnasium at Viscount Alexander School; however, this facility is not large enough to accommodate all the members at the same time. Alderman Ranger referred to an information sheet distributed to Council this evening and pointed out that a number of other municipalicies in the Province have assisted the Club in their areas by grants and use of civic facilities. From the Land Sale Committee, February 28th, 1975, advising that re sale of City- Sowned land- the City was approached sometime ago by the owner of the property to the Ns McKenzie North of McKenzie Avenue off Pitt River Road to purchase the Nk of McKenzie Avenue (the S's was sold earlier to the adjacent property owner), and that the City is now the owner of the N's of McKenzie Avenue, being 33' x 155', or 5,122 square feet in size, with a currently appraised value of $2,500.00.
