‘OPEN QUESTION PERIOD
AT CONCLUSION OF REGULAR COUNCIL MEETINGS

GUIDELINES
The Open Question Period will commence after the adjournment of the regular
Council meeting.
A maton time of 20 minutes for questions from the press and public will be
permitted ; subject to curtailment of at the discretion of the Chair if other
business necessitates.
‘Questions directly relating to business discussed during the Council meeting.
‘ate preferred. Others may be allowed at the discretion of the Chair.
Questions may be asked of any Council member of. staff.
Questions must be truly questions and not statements of opinions or policy. .

Not more than three questions per questioner will be allowed.

Questions ‘from each member of the attending press will be allowed preference

prior to proceeding to the public; the press being namely a representative of .

the Heraid, the Columbian, the Enterprise, the Forum or others.

; The Chair will recognize the questioner and will direct questions to the
Alderman or staff member whom he feels is best able to reply - providing that o
the question has net already been directed to an individual bv the questioner. :
. More than one Alderman or staff member may reply if he feels he has something
to contribute. : | |
The recording secretary will not be required to remain through this period.
Those who notify the Clerk in advance will be allowed to address the Council ~
to a maximum of 3 minutes. .
‘The Oper Question Period will not be held during the one month period

immediately preceding the Annual Municipal Polling Day.
