Regional Park Acreaa> In 197] the Park District acquired 190 acres, bringing to 2,335 the number of acres under its control. Property acauisitions in 1971 cost $945,000. ‘he largest single purchase was the resort Property at Belcarra Park. A lessee now operates the resort and has made many inproverernts. Aldergrove Lake Park has also been leased and is undergoing renovations to provide improved service to the public. Discussions have been held with the Provincial Goveranent with a@ view to obtaining title to Crown lands in several parxs and consiveranble progress has been made. Of special significsnce is the progress at Selcarra recional park. With tho co-operation of the Frovincial Government and the Neighborhood Services Association we expect to acquire, without cest, 5C0 acres surroundinc and including Sesamat Lake. The Neighborhood Services Asseciation has agreed to relinguish its lease on 63 acres it holes, re-assigning it to the regional parks system. We are grateful for the Association's co~operation, Also at Eelezrra, the City of Vancouver has agreed to turn over its Jease on 188 acres at Admiralty Point. This is excellent waterfront property, leased to the City in 1912 by the Federel Goverr.ment, In recent weeks the Provincial Government has agreed to turn over about 20 acres adjacent to the Trans-Canada Highway in Surrey, for inclusion in Tynehead regicnal park, Negotiations are in progress for land to create the Cacilano River Park in the Districts of North Vancouver and West Vancozver and consideration is being given to the Kanaka Creex park site in Maple Ridge. ‘The Park District, in conjunction with Coquitlam, is carrying out a study to determine the best way to devele> .
