Brodie designs new choir garb KAREN BRODIE, a fabric artist from Terrace, has designed the first new outfils in a decade for ihe women of the Vancouver Chamber Choir. The coshames, are presently being debuted in the choir’s 1994 tour of Japan and Korea where the choir will represent North America in a varlety of competi- tions, concerts and. commemora- tive celebralions. , Getting her start at Caledonia Sr. Secondary, Brodie says that oulfilting one of Canada’s two professional choirs was a first for her. She also sees this as a new horizon for her Vancouver-based design company. The focus of the new costumes is thelr impressionistic red-on- black applique jacket, which — like the chair itself — is distinctly west coast. She said her design was. in- spired by west coast native art. Her musical: uprbringing has lent her an appreciation for both the technical and physical aspects of a professional choir’ s lifestyle. , The actual mystery thriller will be chosen following the audi- tions.
