Widespread public protest against
the British government’s action in de-
p@sing the British Guiana government
of Prime Minister Cheddi Jagan was
reported this week from India, where
the memory of the long and bitter
struggle against British imperialist rule
is still vivid for millions of people. The
Indian government was said to have
expressed, its concern to the British '
government over the extent of popular
feeling in India aroused by the anti-
democratic methods employed to re-
move Dr. Cheddi Jagan, himself an
Fast Indian, from office.

Prime Minister Nehru of India this
week responded to a cabled appeal for
help. sent by Dr. Jagan by stating that
the ousted prime minister would be
welcome to visit India.

ernment of British Guiana from office
will be held this coming Sunday, Oc-

tober 25, 8 p.m. in Hastings Auditorium
