ENGLISH VERSION — Port ALBERNI

With the start of the 2004-2005 school year, the Port Alberni
francophone school is in full swing! Firstly, we would like
to announce the arrival of Mr. Eric Leclerc, our new director.
Right from the start, Mr. Leclerc got to work and succeeded
in obtaining bus service and a new teacher. Secondly, we
would also like to announce that our student population

had increased from 13 in June 2004 to 21 in September.
The Port Alberni community should be proud of its school
director and staff as well as of its APE for their many
achievements, both big and small, both now and in future.
It goes without saying that Port Alberni’s success is a team
effort.

La rentrée a été assez occupée ! Le nombre d’étudiants a
remarquablement augmenté. Nous sommes passés de 356 éléves
l'année derniere a 427 éléves en septembre et ce n’est pas fini.

Notre premiére rencontre de l’APE a été un grand succés, avec
une cinquantaine de parents présents. Tous voulaient faire la
connaissance du D' Jean Watters, nouveau directeur général du
CSF et accueillir 4 nouveau Mme Renée Popov, présidente du
CSF et conseillére pour notre région, malgré la pluie et surtout,
malgré le passionnant match de hockey !

Le BBQ de la rentrée a eu lieu lors de la soirée portes ouvertes,
le jeudi 23 septembre. De nombreux bénévoles ont contribué
au succes de cet événement. Merci a tous pour votre beau
travail ! Les parents et enfants ont beaucoup apprécié les
hamburgers et hot dogs, en échangeant nouvelles et plaisanteries.
Nos gagnants du tirage 50/50 et du panier-cadeau ont fait l’envie
de tous ! Toute |’école se prépare a l’événement de |’année : le

September has been a busy month at our school! The number
of students has risen dramatically, from 356 last year to 427
this month and still rising!

Our first meeting was a great success, with approximately
50 parents in attendance. Everyone came to meet Dr. Jean
Watters, the new Superintendent of the CSF and to once again
welcome Mme Renée Popov, President of the Board of Trustees
of the CSF and Trustee for our region, despite the weather and
the thrilling hockey game!

Our Back-to-School BBQ was on September 23", evening of
the school’s open house. Everyone enjoyed themselves, thanks

vendredi 29 octobre a 19h. Ce sera un spectacle
incroyable ! Nous invitons toute la communauté, leurs
parents et amis a y assister ! Cet é€vénement sera la plus
grande levée de fonds entreprise a l’école Gabrielle-Roy.
C’est a ne pas manquer !

all of you for your hard work! It was a great social
event, with students and parents enjoying hamburgers
and hot dogs while catching up on news. The winners
of the 50/50 and basket draws were the envy of all!

The entire school is preparing for the most important
event of the year: “Stage Fright”, John Kaplan’s magic
show to be held on October 29" at 7:00 pm. This show
will be spectacular!!! We invite the entire community to
attend, along with their family and friends! This event
will be the largest fundraiser ever at école Gabrielle-
Roy. It is the “must-see” event of the year!
