THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM C ¢ U Ny C | [ MEMORANDUM SEP 15 1980 TO: Mayor and Council September 10th, 1980 FROM: Public Works Committee Report from the Public Works Committee Meeting held Tuesday, September 9th, 1980. IN ATTENDANCE: Alderman E.W. Mabbett Alderman L.M. Traboulay F.E. Peters, P. Eng., City Engineer ITEM I Re: STOP Sign on Maxwell at Westminster Avenue The Principal of the James Park School has requested that we install a STOP sign on the new cul-de-sac across from the James Park School. This is a justified request in that Westminster Avenue is considered to be a collector street and all other. intersections approaching Westminster Avenue between Oxford Street and Coast Meridian Road do have STOP signs. The Committee recommends that a STOP sign be installed on Maxwell” at Westminster Avenue. . ITEM IT ' Re: | STOP Sign on Brown at Langan Avenue Langan Avenue has recently been reconstructed under local improvement and is now built to a collector. street standard. ‘The Committee recommends that STOP signs be installed on Brown on both sides Of Langan Avenue in order to provide some protection to drivers crossing the intersection. The fact that there is a pub at the end of Brown Street also contributes to the need for STOP signs. ITEM IIT Re: STOP Signs on Cornwall Street at both ‘Intersections with Lombardy Drive Council recently approved a STOP sign on Cornwall south of Lombardy Drive. Referring to the attached sketch no. 1, you will notice that Cornwall crosses Lombardy. It is extremely unsafe to have a STOP sign on only one side of an intersection and therefore almost essential that a STOP also be placed on the north side of that intersection. Another wason for STOP signs would be to protect children who use Lombardy Drive to get to the park. [deere
