SUBJECT: Pension (Municipal) Plan coverage

RECOMMENDATION:

THAT effective 1987 March 02 the City provide benefits
under the Pension (Municipal) Plan for two newly-created
part-time positions In Schedule "B" (i.e. Inside salaried
staff) of the City's contract with the Canadian Union of

Public Employees.

BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS:

While the City's contract with C.U.P.E., Local 498
contains provision for part-time positions [In the
salarled staff, with pro-rated benefits, this
provision has not been used to-date.

The Pension (Municipal) Plan for the City Is therefore
structured for full-time employees only and a
resolution of Council Is required to approve the
inclusfon, in the City’s group, of the two newly
created part~time salaried positions in the Treasury
Department.
