COUNC Mayor and Council April 26th, 1978 MAY 1 1978 Alderman E.W. Mabbett It has been my experience for some considerable time now, that more complaints are received in discussions with ratepayers, both by telephone and on the street, in regard to excessive speeding and squealing tires, etc. To be more specific some of the areas of recent complaint are, the Laurier area east of Coast Meridian, Birchland Manor area, the Marpole~ Wilson area around the apartment complex, the Cedar Drive area, the schools (particularly at noon and after school), Pitt River Road through the residential area from, Shaughnessy down McLean. You would think at times that you were in the area of the Westwood racetrack. We all know that this problem cannot be eliminated, however, I thirk the time has come when we have to say to the R.C.M.P. we want periodic concentrated drives to help eliminate this serious problem. We fully understand the reason will be given that the police are understaffed; however it is up to them to concentrate their manpower in a real concerted effort to meet the requests of the citizens of Port Coquitlam to better control this very serious problem. tae teabagete ft 9 babe
