/3 and although the information is not essential enough to have it duplicated in our Hall, it was a convenience. The only major problem that has come out of the whole change over has occurred this year. While we should have had an Assessment Roll with Assessment Totals delivered to us on December 31st, we have only just received confirmed Roll totals in a letter from the Authority dated March 29th, 1976. We have, therefore, not been able to put anything into our computer with regard to the 1976 Roll and, in fact, the input information is now just being processed. I can only hope that everything goes smoothly in the conversion with our computer as we do not have a great deal of time between now and tax billing time. Once the problems of central data processing in Victoria are ironed out I think that their records will tie into ours with a minimum of duplication, There is duplication of data processing now to the extent that we require the same basic property data in our computer that is on file in Victoria. A system has been devised for preparing the input for our machine by way of a tape and this will save manual labour, however, if we want to remain current with changes in property ownership, these changes will have to be manually entered into the machine. This is work that was carried out before, by us and at our expense, however, under the present system, it is being duplicated in Victoria. With regard to cost, it would appear that the operation is not costing us any more than it did in the past. The past cost in terms of Mills is as follows: 1972 ~ 1.2 Mills;1973 - 1.47 Mills; 1974 - 1.64 Mills; 1975 - 1.17 Mills; 1976 - 1.255 Millis The Assessment Authority took over in July of 1974 and part of the high cost in that year is partially due to the start-up costs. I do not have any details on the Assessment Authority Budget to determine the amount of contribution by the Provincial Government to the Authority and therefore it is difficult to say whether the low Mill rate currently enjoyed is a result of efficient operation or greater contribution by the Provincial
