Ammate can act as a temporary soil sterilant, it js
suggested that it be tested in a small area first to be
certain that it does not adversely affect desired
plantings.

Diese! oi! is another relatively low-toxic material
which can be used to kill unwanted vegetation. Diesel
oi1 is most effective during hot weather. This material
may be appropriate for use on the rock area of the
Loheed Median Strip. Applications of rock salt might
also be tried for weed control at this location.

- FENCELINES: Past practice has been to treat fencelines with her-
. | bicides or to use mechanical controls such as weed
‘eaters., Options for low-or-non-toxic control of fen-~
celine weeds are as follow:

RECOMMENDATIONS: i. Establish low, medium and nigh priority areas for
control of vegetation along fencelines. Treat high
priority areas first. Only treat medium and low
priority areas if required for fire or other
“non-aesthetic” reasons.

2. Consider applying gunnite, soil cement, asphalt or
concrete paving along high priority fencelines. The
