She started in 1971 at Local 1-184 in Prince Albert, SK and moved to The Pas in 1973. Local president Chris Parlow and former president Bill Benson recently wished Laurel and her family many more happy years. She remains active in Branch 19 of the Royal Canadian Legion. [> Sister Staffers enjoying Retirements The Allied Worker caught up with two of the former IWA’s longest serving office secre- taries. Both Irene | Bing and Anne Lutley | retired in March of 2005 after decades of service to the union. Irene started in June of 1960, while Anne began in July of 1963. Both worked at the IWA Regional Council Number One office on Commercial Drive. Today Irene, who served under six presidents, from Joe Mortis to Norm Rivard, maintains her residence in New Westminster. NorMAN Garcia He’ll always remain a union guy! WHEN HE RETIRED in 2005, Brother Bob Navarretta was the longest serv- ing former IWA staff member in the country. Today, the former national director of arbitration services lives in Stroud, Ontario near Barrie and still takes on occasional cases for USW Locals 1-500 and 1-1000. Passionate about history and the arts, Bob is now able to visit SLAOMMEKE a Miey his country of birth, Italy, on a more frequent basis.
