A Council Safety Conference

In early June, USW - IWA Council local unions sent delegates to a health and
safety conference in Richmond, BC. The theme was on “Our Rights at Work.”
Speakers included IWA Council chairperson Norm Rivard, District 3 Director Steve
Hunt, an expert on fatigue and a sawmill health and safety study. Workshops were
on Building Effective Committees, Hazard Identification, the Right to Refuse
Unsafe Work in western provinces and Anti-Harassment Training.
