[> Stelco talks still | underway The financial restructuring of Stelco’s operations remains ongoing as the union continues to work for agree- ments which will give the company financial strength, while addressing pension liabilities. In late September the company filed a restruc- turing plan which Steelworkers greeted with guarded optimism. Both the Province of Ontario (with a $100 million loan) and Tricap Investments are playing a role in the restructuring. Key to its success are fair agreements with the Steelworkers and getting the bondholders to agree, a task, which at the time this writing, was not concluded. A vote by bondholders was to take place in late November. Failure to accept the restructuring plan would have serious implications for Stelco.
