The policy of the Canadian Labour Congress is to urge all levels of govern- ment to provide increased measures of social security, so that all Canadians may enjoy a better standard of living. Until such time as governments accept greater responsibility in this field, there is an urgent need to help people who desperately need help. Many of these needs can best be met, and always will be met, through the 66 voluntary agencies in the Community Chest and Council of Greater Van- couyer. The United Red Feather Appeal is the least ive way of rai fund If for this worthwhile cause. For this reason, we support the suggestion of one hour’s pay a month as being a fair contribution from all employees. And we be- lieve also that all sections of our community should give on this fair share basis. We urge all working people in the Greater Vancouver area to do their share. With corporations, management and members of the professions doing likewise we are sure the 1958 Red Feather objective of $2,906,000 will be met and the less fortunate will be helped in time of need.
