“SAVE THE CHILDREN”

DON’T give your children toys with sharp
edges or points or toys with small parts that can
be pulled off and put in a small child’s mouth.
Give things that are sturdy and well made. A
toy that breaks may cause a bad fall, a cut or
puncture wound, maybe an infection. Teach the
youngsters the SAFE WAY to ride bikes and
handle tools. Teach them early to act safely and
make use of safety equipment—AS YOU DO IN
YOUR WORK.

A Christmas tree is a thing of beauty with its
brightly-colored lights, shiny tinsel, and other gay
decorations. Christmas just wouldn’t be Christmas
without a tree!

But, ironically, this traditional Yuletide symbol
of joy can be a hazard if proper safety precautions
are not taken. To keep your Christmas merry, re-
member to ...

3% Keep your Christmas tree in water before and
during the time it is up.

%* Take it down before it becomes dry and an easy
prey for fire.

% Place the tree well away from any fireplace, ¢
stove or other source of heat.

%* Watch your cigarettes. Keep them a safe dis- _
tance from the tree.

* pyoid using light fixtures that have worn insul-
ation.

% Don’t use more than seven 7-light sets or five
5-light sets on one circuit. aks

* Keep metallic tinsel from contact with
sockets.

% Disconnect the tree lights when leavi
home or going to bed.
