For in- stance: I'm a New Canadian in years, but old in love and pride for Canada and I’m inclined to view this country through rose- colored glasses, especially when talking of it to a visitor. But Mother wasn’t wearing any rose-colored glasses and her clear, honest appraisal of Canada and things Canadian was very stimu- lating. It made “me realize how desperately chronic are the ills of this nation; how vitally im- portant it is that the ills be cured so that Canada’s really tremen- dous potential can be realized.
