These agencies throughout the year offer a variety of services which are aimed at helping people regain their health and happiness. To retain the highly skilled per- sonnel needed and to provide proper recreational centres to carry on this work takes money which can only be obtained through donations from you the public. One Donation One donation of twelve dollars will ‘provide through these agen- cies, 5% days of foster home care to a child who has no home. Twelve dollars will provide one year of recreational activities for a member of the Canadian Na- tional Institute for the Blind. For twelve dollars a Victorian Order Nurse can make six visits to the home of a diabetic who needs i- sulin regularly. Day in and day out these agencies throughout the year carry on their work of mercy.’ Their research team at the Health Centre for Children, for instance, is doing outstanding pioneering work in studying the causes of improper breathing and lack of oxygen in new born infants. Mental Health Another agency, the Canadian Mental Health Association, B.C. Division, is furthering understand- ing of sound mental health and conducts mental health projects. It serves all, ages and economic groups for mental illness is no respector of persons or purses. The Salvation Army people at Harbour Light Centre is yet an- other part of the humanitarian organization. Here they devote their lives to give understanding and skilled guidance to men down and out, and broken in spirit.
