LUMBER WORKER 13 LADIES’ AUXILIARY CONFERENCE Sites “We Kre Proud OF Our Accomplishments” Greetings from the Ladies’ Auxiliary Conference, held simultaneously with the recent District Convention, were conveyed to the senior body by fraternal delegate Kay Wood, W.A. 1-217, when called to the rostrum as one of the convention’s guest speakers. After expressing appreciation of the opportunity to address the convention, she reported on the work of the Auxiliaries as fol- lows: “We are very pleased to be able to report that we have had sev- eral new Auxiliaries organized bal Margaret Nashnik, Chairman. distributing the treats of cigar- ettes, chocolates, fruit, also the B.C. We are very proud of our ac- complishments in our hospital visiting, and that we have had approximately 5000 sick visited this past year. We have continued MS 3 our full support in the futuré as we have in the past. An Appeal We appeal to the delegates, to | take word back to theif wives to be prepared for any emergency, and if at all possible to join Local Auxiliaries. As the old say- ing goes — “United we stand, divided-we fall”. -During our Conference it was revealed that several Auxiliaries find the time and effort, ‘to send donations to charitable organiza- tions, such as the Red Cross, C.A.R.S., Cancer Fund, March of Dimes, and the crippled at the Queen Alexandria Solarium. It was also brought to our atten- tion, that Auxiliaries have helped financially and morally, our own members’ families who have been in difficulty. Another interest of our Aux- Locals in their Social activities, such as the Annual Local picnics, Christmas parties, and dances. “A Great Success” Our Conference has been a great success. We have had fullest co-operation among all our Auxiliary delegates, and we feel we haye achieved our goal. We wish to extend our sin- cere thanks to the District Council No. 1, for their sup- port and co-operation in our annual activities, and also our Women’s page of the B.C. Lumber Worker. We would also like to thank our own Local for the assistance that they. con- tributed in the past.” L.A. 1-424 Sent Four Women’s Auxiliary of Local 1-424, IWA, Prince George, meeting January 23rd, in the CCF Hall, elected four dele- gates to attend the Annual Ladies’ Auxiliary Conference held in conjunction with the IWA Convention, February 14- 17th, in the Hotel Georgia, Vancouver.
