Hodgson as Master of Ceremonies for a typically IWA “honor list” program, Vice-Presidents Jim Dicey and Claude Ballard expressed the Union’s appreciation of the ex- ploits performed by hi-climbing champions Danny Sailor and Er- nie Alexander. Both were the recipients of handsome trophies. The Vice-Presidents carried away as souvenirs of the occasion, hand-carved miniature totem poles. Mosher Commissioned CCL President A. R. President Allison Brown of the Women’s Auxiliary, 1-217, pre- sented Mrs, A. F. Hartung with a large bouquet of roses. Mrs. Claude Ballard eulogized the work of the ladies on the local entertainment committee, and when summoned to the head table, Mrs. Pearl Hodgson, Mrs. Pat Fulljames, Mrs. Allison Brown and Mrs. Kay Wood were each presented by Mrs. Ballard with gift certificates. A sparkling floor-show featur- ed well-known Vancouver artists including Harry Mossfield and Banquet to mark the opening of the new Union Office was postponed by members of the jake Cowichan Women’s Aux- ary of Local 1-80, IWA, dur- ing their regular meeting, October 6th. The fifteen members present heard a report on the activities of the United Organizations by Sister Davidson. Sister Clarke reported on the Lake Cowichan Labor Day Sports ‘and Parade which were very successful. LAKE COWICHAN W.A. PLANS SOCIAL EVENTS ‘A new plan to liven up the so- cial meetings has met with the approval of the members. The plan is to have six games of bingo played at each social with the prizes being supplied by two members and the other members bringing a friend or friends. The Auxiliary’s home cooking and vegetable sale held in the lat- ter part of September brought in $16.40. Sister C. Atchison was the lucky winner of the club jackpot.
