Taken on a motion by CCF Leader M. J. Coldwell, M.P., which expressed regret at the government’s fail- ure to “recommend the inaugura- tion of a health insurance pro- gram”, the division found 45 M.P.’s backing the health insur- ance move, 90 opposing it. The rest of the 263 members were absent. Tories and Social Creditors who voted against a similar CCF motion at the Fall session, sup- ported the health plan this time, an indication of its mounting popularity with Canadians, “The costs of poor health to society, as well as to the indi- vidual, are staggering,” Coldwell pointed out éarlier, placing his motion before the House. “... the CCF believes that a national health insurance program is the only way by which the nation’s health can be adequately pro- tected.” King’s Daughters Brother Wd Linder of Local 1-80, IWA, visited the following in the King's Daughters Hospital distri- buting candy, cigarettes and copies of the B.C.
